THE CLINICAL USE OF DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY SYSTEM IN PLASTIC SURGERY

Abstract
Since the 1960s the rapid development of computerized technology has changed the face of the entire field of radiology. Using computerized techniques, quantitative imaging is increasingly being used by the various radiological discipline. Digital image is widely used computed tomography, ?ultrasonography, digital subtraction angiography, magnetic resonance image. However, most examination undertaken in radiology remain the traditional studies. The advantage of digital radiography system are PACS (picture archiving and communication system), contrast modification, spatial filtering, subtraction and superimposition of the image through the image processing by computer.
The purpose of this article is to describe the comparison of the image qualities of digital radiography system and conventional film-screen system in plastic surgery. The images of digital radiography system is superior to conventional film-screen images especially in facial bone fracture, soft tissue mass, and follow up check of implant. Digital radiography system will be very useful in the examinations in plastic surgery.
